Mark Law - Trumpet

Originally from Poole, Mark started playing the trumpet at ten. He joined the National Youth Orchestra at twelve, later becoming principal and winning the John Fletcher Prize for outstanding contribution to the orchestra. He attended Eton College on a Music Scholarship, then continued studying with a scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, learning trumpet with John Miller, Anne McAneney, and Paul Cosh. Whilst gaining a first class degree there he won the trumpet prize and the wind concerto prize, and was a member of both the European Union Youth Orchestra and World Youth Orchestra. Awards from the Countess of Munster, Caird and Fleming trusts enabled a postgraduate year at the Royal Academy of Music with Ian Balmain and John Wallace. He has played with the majority of the UK’s orchestras, and London ones including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony and BBC Concert Orchestra. He currently holds teaching positions at Reading University and Eton College. As well as organising the london city brass quintet he also plays in the World Brass ensemble and frequently performs solo recitals with his brother (Piano). Commercial music successes include two hit singles with 'Divine Comedy'. Mark played as a soloist with Black Dyke Mills Band, and has performed concertos by Arutiunian, Telemann (Windsor Festival), Bach (Spoleto Festival), Vivaldi, Haydn, and Hummel.
